International Dot Day could be a great way to promote family literacy!

It happens on September 15, and this year that is on a Saturday!

Over the weekend, I discovered a LiveBinders creation full of resources and ideas for International Dot Day!

There are a lot of resources on this one tab!

I think lots of resources equals lots of opportunities for learning and exploration!

Here are a few that stand out to me:

  • “Make Your Mark” by Emma Wallace  (A song she wrote in honor of International Dot Day)
  • Celebri-Dots (This site is filled with other authors, illustrators, and celebrities who share in the dream of a more creative world.)
  • Peter Reynolds on ReadTV talking about being an author and reading the Dot (please not that this is a video on facebook)

I have already shared how my daughter told me about the book with the big orange circle on it and how it inspired many of the art projects she did this weekend: Connecting the Dots!

How can your family use International Dot day to support Family Literacy?

If nothing else, read the book (or watch a video of the book being read …)

Happy Dot Day!
